Description

Ammannia capitellata is a stem plant native to marshes on several Indian Ocean islands, including Madagascar. It was previously known as Nesaea triflora and later renamed Ammannia mauritiana in 2013 before being reassigned to its correct name, Ammannia capitellata. A variant of this species was introduced to Europe from southern Madagascar in the 1990s, while a clone from the Ambodimanga river north of Tamatave was imported in 2000 as Nesaea triflora and can be cultivated submersed with success.
