Description
Anubias barteri var. glabra is widely distributed in West Africa, from Guinea to Gabon. It forms dense populations on riverbanks and rocks in forest rivulets, often cohabiting with Bolbitis heudelotii and Crinum natans. This variety is a collective term for different Anubias barteri forms that vary in size, featuring oval to lanceolate leaves. They can be difficult to distinguish from other varieties within the species. Small plants of A. barteri var. glabra have been imported from Cameroon under the synonym Anubias minima and are still traded under this name. This variety is as undemanding as var. nana, allowing it to be attached to rocks or driftwood as an epiphyte, stuck between rocks, or planted in the substrate with the rhizome remaining uncovered.
