Description

Apongeton crispus is native to Sri Lanka's periodic ponds and swampy regions. This aquatic plant can thrive without a resting phase when kept in an aquarium. It is known to hybridize with other Aponogeton species. This widely cultivated plant is easy to care for, making it suitable for beginners. It requires sufficient light and a nutrient-rich substrate. The ideal water pH range is slightly acidic, but it can tolerate higher levels. Apongeton crispus grows well in low-maintenance tanks without additional CO2 fertilization. Remove yellowish or disintegrating leaves at the base. Propagation occurs through rhizome splitting or seeds. This plant may produce flowers frequently when kept in an aquarium. Due to its size, it is best suited for large aquaria. Its leaves can grow to the surface and float, covering a significant area. Consider its fast growth rate and potential size before planting. Apongeton crispus is well-suited for background planting, either as a solitary plant or in a group.
