Description

Aponogeton undulatus is a variable aquatic plant that grows up to 40 cm in height. It is commonly found in lakes and ponds in the Asian tropics, exhibiting undulate submersed leaves similar to those of A. crispus. The species displays different growth rates, with some varieties being slow-growing while others are fast-growing or even produce floating leaves. This plant can be identified by two distinct characteristics: its leaves often feature transparent areas between longitudinal and lateral nerves, giving them a darker appearance compared to the surrounding tissue; additionally, the flower stalks sometimes terminate in an adventitious plant with a bulb instead of producing a flower spike, making propagation relatively easy.
