Description

Cabomba furcata is native to Central and South America, preferring slow-flowing waters with a slightly acidic pH. Its peltate, shield-shaped leaves are lineal and floating. This species requires 0.8 watts per litre or more of light for stable growth, and insufficient light can cause weak shoots that tend to decompose. A nutrient-rich substrate like ADA Aquasoil can enhance growth, and the plant is highly susceptible to a lack of micronutrients, nitrate, and phosphate. Fertilization with CO2 promotes healthy appearance and growth. Propagation occurs through terminal cuttings, with new shoots forming from upper nodes when the lower part of the plant remains in the substrate. Under optimal conditions, Cabomba furcata is a fast-growing plant that requires frequent pruning to maintain its appearance.
