Description
Cryptocoryne ciliata is an aquatic plant that can grow up to 90 cm tall. It is commonly found in coastal areas of the Asian tropics, particularly in estuaries and transitional zones where fresh and marine water mix. The plant thrives in muddy environments with mangrove forests and is subject to tidal fluctuations. It can also be found in canals, aquifers, and polluted water. This species has medium green, lanceolate leaves on long stalks, and a spathe with distinctive fringes or cilia along its margin. Two varieties are cultivated: var. ciliata forms runners with narrow leaf blades, while var. latifolia produces upright shoots with wider, heart-shaped leaves.
