Description
Cryptocoryne spiralis is a water trumpet native to the Asian mainland, specifically found in southern India and Bangladesh. It grows on riverbanks, temporarily flooded wetlands, and rice paddies, where it's considered a weed. The species name refers to its inflorescence's spiralling spathe blade, which can have up to five turns. The species is variable, with two recognized varieties (var. spiralis and var. cognatoides) and intermediate forms.
