Description

Cyperus helferi is an aquatic plant species that can grow both submersed and emersed in stagnant and slow-flowing waters in Thailand. It requires a long adaptation period but can thrive under moderate care. It prefers high light levels (0.5-1 watt per litre) and cooler water temperatures, not exceeding 26°C for optimal growth. A balanced nutrient supply enhances its growth and appearance. The plant forms long leaves that float on the surface and produces offshoots on its rosulate basis, which can be propagated by cutting them off with scissors. It also forms thin stems with inflorescence in emersed form, where young plants develop.
