Description

Echinodorus 'Dschungelstar' No. 16, also known as Echinodorus 'Deep Purple', is a hybrid bred by Julius Hoechstetter in the early 1990s. It grows up to 50-60 cm tall and has a striking dark red to black submersed form with dense leaf rosettes. Submerged leaves are narrow elliptical, leathery, measuring 25-35 cm long and 6-7 cm wide, with a stalk length of 10-25 cm. This variety resembles Echinodorus 'Rubin', 'Red Mamba', and dark-coloured wild forms of Echinodorus uruguayensis, differing in its more intense dark red color and pronounced longitudinal nerves.
