Description

Eleocharis fluctuans is a stem plant that floats on the water surface. It has reddish-brown stems and delicate olive green leaves that grow in tufts on the stem nodes. The plant belongs to the sedge family (Cyperaceae) and originates from the South-American tropics. Eleocharis fluctuans is highly demanding, requiring intensive light, a continuous supply of nutrients and CO2, soft, acidic water with a carbonate hardness of 3 or below and a pH of 6.5 or less. The plant can form clumps floating on the water surface in nature but can also be planted in the substrate and develop a root system. For propagation, cut off the upper part of the stem and replant it.
