Description

Eleocharis pusilla is often mislabeled as Eleocharis parvula in trade, but it is actually native to Australia and New Zealand. This plant has been available since 1997 and was imported from Australia by Tropica. In contrast, true E. parvula is found in Europe, Northern Africa, Asia, North America, and Central America, typically in brackish coastal habitats. Eleocharis pusilla can be distinguished from E. parvula by the absence of small spindle-shaped tubers on its rhizome tips. When grown submerged under identical conditions, E. pusilla differs from E. acicularis by being shorter (typically less than 10 cm), having a lighter green color, and curving stalks sideways.
