Description

Elodea nuttallii is an invasive aquatic plant native to North America, introduced to Europe where it is still spreading. It is found frequently in various waterbody types, including those with excessive nutrient levels. The plant grows with a strong tendency to develop large populations. In trade, E. nuttallii is typically sold as a garden pond plant, often mislabeled as Elodea canadensis due to its similar appearance. It can be distinguished from E. canadensis by its longer leaves that spiral slightly.
