Description
Eriocaulon cinereum is a small aquarium plant that grows emersed in wet ground and is native to South-East Asia, Africa, Asia, Australia, and has been introduced to parts of the USA and Italy. It requires a nutrient-rich substrate, as it absorbs nutrients mainly through its large root system. The roots can reach three times the length of the leaves. This plant needs high lighting intensity, CO2 fertilization, and regular nutrient supply. When CO2 is sufficient, the center of the leaf rosette turns golden. E. cinereum stays small, growing up to 8 cm in height, and can be propagated by uncovering it once a month and separating the parent and daughter plants with a sharp tool. Due to its compact size, it is ideal as a foreground plant, suitable for accentuating any aquarium layout.
