Description

Fissidens splachnobryoides is a widely distributed moss in Asian tropical regions, where it grows on moist soil. It was introduced to aquaristics in Singapore several years ago and was identified by Prof. B.C. Tan in 2006. The name Fissidens splachnobryoides is considered a synonym of Fissidens maceratus or F. flaccidus by some authors. This small moss forms dense, low-growing mats composed of short shoots. Under magnification, the leaflet margins are finely serrated.
