Description

Fontinalis hypnoides is a widespread aquatic moss in the northern hemisphere, except for its limited presence in Germany. It grows submerged in stagnant or slow-flowing waters. Unlike Fontinalis antipyretica, F. hypnoides has a finer, more delicate structure with smaller and narrower leaves that are not folded or arched longitudinally. The shoots of F. hypnoides branch strongly and form dark green bushes over time.
