Description

Helanthium bolivianum "Angustifolius" is a triploid form of Helanthium bolivianum (= Echinodorus bolivianus), originating from Brazil's Mato Grosso state. It grows up to 50-60 cm long and 3-4 mm wide, with band-like leaves that tend to stay shorter under strong light. The plant resembles Vallisneria nana in appearance. It requires sufficient trace elements to thrive, and iron deficiency can lead to pale colors. Strong light and CO2 fertilization enhance growth, but it can also grow slowly without them. Helanthium bolivianum "Angustifolius" reproduces by runners, spreading quickly once established in the tank. Young plants may appear overnight, and the plant is ideal for mid- and background aquascaping. It forms smaller leaves when cultivated emersed, with linear to narrow lanceolate shapes.
