Description

Echinodorus angustifolius (Tropica number 067B) grows leaves up to 60 cm long and 5 mm wide, but Helanthium sp. "Angustifolius, small form" remains distinctly smaller. It can grow into a carpet of 8-10 cm height or reach 20-30 cm with dense planting and nutrient-rich conditions. Leaves are 4 mm wide, similar to H. bolivianum "Angustifolius". This plant resembles H. bolivianum "Latifolius" more closely than others. It forms runner chains with young plants growing 5 cm apart. As an emersed plant, it is similar to H. bolivianum "Latifolius". Helanthium sp. "Angustifolius, small form" is undemanding, reproduces moderately fast through runners, and is suitable as a carpet-forming foreground plant or in loose groups in the middleground.
