Description

Hemianthus sp. "Amano Pearl Grass" is an aquarium plant that has been cultivated for a long time, known under this name by Takashi Amano and Neil Frank. It differs from Hemianthus glomeratus in its emersed and submersed forms, with characteristics such as opposite leaves, darker and more rounded emersed leaves, and straighter but similar-shaped submersed leaves. This plant has a stronger tendency to sprout horizontal or slanted upright shoots than Hemianthus glomeratus, resulting in irregular groupings. Aquarium cultivation and use of this plant is comparable to that of Hemianthus glomeratus, but it seems to grow faster and be more undemanding. However, it requires moderate light, and insufficient CO2 can lead to grey lime deposits on the leaves and halted growth.
