Description

Hydrocotyle is a small and delicate aquatic plant popular among aquascapers in Asia. It was introduced to Europe under the name Hydrocotyle sp. "Japan" in 2008, and from Japan to Germany in 2010. Its leaves are deeply indented with three to five lobes, resembling clover. In contrast to Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides, it is more undemanding and grows faster. Under ideal conditions, it can grow rapidly and may become invasive. With lower light, its growth slows down, and the stems tend to be upright rather than creeping.
