Description
Hydrocotyle vulgaris, also known as water pennywort, is native to Europe and can be found in North Africa, Caucasia, and Iran. In Germany, it is the only native Hydrocotyle species. This plant thrives on lakeshores, pond edges, and poor-nutrient environments with low lime content, often growing in marshy or sandy areas that may be dry. It can also tolerate shallow water, where its leaves may float on the surface.
