Description

Hydrophila polysperma "Sunset", also known as "Rosanervig", originates from Tropica's Danish aquatic plant nursery. A distinctive feature of this variety is its white-colored leaf veins, which are not caused by nutrient deficiency but rather a virus that affects only this specific variety and poses no threat to other aquarium plants. This robust red plant is easy to cultivate and tolerates a wide range of conditions: temperatures between 18-28°C, pH values from 5-8, and water hardness from soft to hard. While it can thrive without intense light and CO2, these factors enhance its reddish color. Iron also plays a role in maintaining the red hue, as insufficient iron can cause the plant's color to fade to pale white. This fast-growing plant tends to grow horizontally along the substrate, but this can be prevented by densely planting stems or increasing phosphate levels. Propagation and trimming are simple: cut off a shoot and replant it, or trim the main stem to encourage lateral growth and bushy plants.
