Description

Hygrophila sp. 'Red' is a creeping ground-covering plant with reddish to brownish coloration. It produces very long leaves and can grow rapidly with adequate nutrient-rich substrate, good lighting, and optional nitrate and phosphate supplementation. This species does not require CO2 injection and prefers lower nutrient concentrations for optimal coloration. Propagation is straightforward as it generates numerous lateral shoots that can be cut off and replanted. New shoots also emerge from remaining stem parts in the substrate. Hygrophila sp. 'Red' thrives as a foreground plant in medium to large tanks, providing a striking contrast with other light green or red-colored plants.
