Description
Lemna trisulca is an uncommon Lemna species. It forms floating populations below the waterline, unlike the well-known duckweed (Lemna minor and other species). Each frond has a transparent margin that is toothed at the front. It grows in stagnant waters poor in phosphate with a conductivity of mainly over 100 Mikrosiemens/cm, often found floating under other duckweed species. In winter, it continues to grow, producing shorter and wider fronds that sink to the ground and continue growing at a slower rate.
