Description

Limnobium laevigatum, also known as Amazon frogbit, is a floating plant native to lakes, ponds, and slow-flowing rivers in Central and South America. It is more adaptable than other species, especially regarding temperature. The plant forms runners regularly, producing young plants at their ends. Under optimal conditions, it can grow rapidly and form carpets of plants, which may lead to shading of the ground. With strong light, good fertilization, and high air humidity, emersed leaves may form above the waterline. CO2 injection promotes growth. The plant can flower in the aquarium, although rarely. Propagation occurs naturally.
