Description

Limnobium spongia, also known as the North-American frogbit, is found in stagnant or slow-flowing waters from Canada to southeastern USA, where it grows as a floating plant or marsh plant on muddy ground. It is infrequently cultivated today. This species can be distinguished from Limnobium laevigatum by its heart-shaped leaves with a pronounced tip.
