Ludwigia inclinata is a variable plant native to Central and South America, characterized by opposite, relatively wide submersed leaves. It thrives in fast-flowing rivers and boggy areas in tropical regions. This species has high demands and limited usability in aquariums, which may contribute to its relative lack of popularity. Ludwigia inclinata requires intense light and adequate liquid fertilizer for rapid growth, reaching 30-40 cm in just one week. It grows out in a trailing habit when it reaches the water surface, producing numerous lateral shoots on the horizontal stem portion. To maintain healthy growth, cut off the upper part of the plant once it reaches this stage and replant. CO2 supplementation is necessary for optimal growth. Lower CO2 levels and less intense light can cause lower leaves to turn green and drop off. Micronutrients and moderate fertilization with nitrate and phosphate are essential, which induces reddish coloration in shoot tips. Propagating Ludwigia inclinata is straightforward by cutting off and replanting lateral or top shoots. Cutting the top shoots and leaving the lower part in the substrate encourages bushy growth and rapid production of new lateral shoots on nodes. The top shoot can be re-planted separately.
