Description
Ludwigia sedoides is native to Central and South America, where it thrives in stagnant waters or river zones with weak currents. It has a distinctive appearance, with floating rosettes resembling water caltrop (Trapa natans), although the two are not related. This species is commonly found in warm climates or conservatories, and can be grown in ponds. In an aquarium, Ludwigia sedoides requires intense light (at least 0.75 watts per liter) to grow well. It also needs a supply of macro- and micronutrients. Under optimal conditions, it produces yellow flowers. This plant is propagated by cutting off the floating rosette, leaving some stem attached, which will develop a new rosette over time.
