Description

Mayaca fluviatilis, or stream bogmoss, is native to subtropical and tropical regions in the Americas, ranging from southeastern USA to Argentina. This plant features a moss-like stem structure that can grow both emersed and submersed. It often inhabits blackwater rivulets' banks. M. fluviatilis exhibits varying forms with distinct characteristics. In aquariums, it thrives in soft water with acidic pH, but can also tolerate harder water conditions. This plant serves as an indicator for iron deficiency, where its tips turn pale green; iron supplementation resolves this issue. Balanced nutrients and adequate CO2 supply are crucial for its cultivation, along with good lighting.
