Description

Mayaca sellowiana is a distinct species that does not belong to the genus Rotala. It was previously misidentified as Rotala sp. 'Nanjenshan', but its leaves are actually alternate, unlike those of Rotala which grow in whorls. Mayaca sellowiana's leaves are also closer to the stem compared to other Mayaca species. The plant has compact shoots with dense foliage and is a decorative addition to aquariums.
