Description
Myriophyllum spicatum, a species of aquatic plant native to Europe and Asia, has been introduced to North America where it has formed hybrids with native species. It thrives in nutrient-rich lakes and rivers that are not heavily polluted. In summer, it produces flower spikes above water's surface. M. spicatum is a fast-growing hardy plant suitable for garden ponds, coldwater or temperate aquaria. Its medium green, finely pinnate leaves and brownish-red stems require frequent trimming. This milfoil is recommended for natural biotope-themed tanks and can also thrive in garden ponds.
