Description

Nymphaea gardneriana is a night-flowering waterlily species from tropical America. It has small, roundish leaves that grow well submerged but tend to develop floating leaves with intense light, warmth, nutrient-rich substrate, and low water level. Younger submerged leaves are orange-red with scattered darker spots, while the center of the leaf blade at the petiole insertion point is intensely red. Older leaves turn more green. The petioles are pubescent. Nymphaea gardneriana propagates by runners and develops a small, round tuber-like rhizome. Strong plants produce large, cream-white, highly fragrant flowers that open at night.
