Description

Pogostemon stellatus 'Broad Leaf' is a geographical variety of P. stellatus, originating from Papua New Guinea. It has gained popularity due to its stunning coloration and beauty. This plant prefers sufficient light (0.6 W/L+) and CO2 injection for optimal growth and color development. Individual stems should be planted at a suitable distance to allow the plant to reach its full size (up to 20 cm in width). Fertilization with liquid fertilizers containing nitrate, phosphate, potassium, and micronutrients is necessary for good health and vibrant colors. This form of P. stellatus is less finicky than others, tolerating varying nutrient levels and does not typically develop a crippled top shoot or produce excessive lateral growth. It grows vertically without branching, often breaking the water surface to grow above the waterline. Propagation occurs through top and lateral shoot cuttings replanted into the substrate. This plant adds contrast and color to medium-sized to large tanks, particularly in the middle and background areas due to its striking colors and robust growth.
