Description

Rotala macrandra 'Narrow Leaf' is a mutation of Rotala macrandra with narrow leaves and an upright growth habit. It tends to grow lateral shoots with broad leaves. This form requires medium to high light intensity, CO2 injection, and a controlled nutrient supply: nitrate 5-15 mg/l, phosphate 1-2 mg/l. It develops compact growth and intense red color when phosphate is high, but may become pale or die if iron deficient. Propagation occurs through top or lateral shoot cuttings. This plant has potential for aquascape layouts, especially for small aquariums with a bright red color contrast.
