Description
Seaside rivuletweed (Samolus valerandi) is a small bog plant widely distributed globally. It thrives in wet environments with fresh or brackish water. In Central Europe, it can be found in brackish reeds near coastal areas. This plant produces approximately 15 cm high light green leaf rosettes. The leaves are oblanceolate to obovate, resembling lamb's lettuce (Valerianella), with a round tip and margin that runs along the leaf stalk. Emersed plants produce flower stalks growing 10-50 cm tall, featuring alternate smaller leaves towards the top. These stalks bear numerous tiny white flowers. The fruit consists of round capsules with five caps that open to release many small seeds.
