Taxiphyllum taxirameum is an aquarium plant that was recently discovered in a rivulet near Khao Sok National Park in Thailand. Professor Benito C. Tan identified it as Taxiphyllum taxirameum, and Jens Kuehne introduced it as a new aquarium moss in the German magazine DATZ. T. taxirameum has a wide distribution across North, Central, South America, Asia, and was found growing partially submerged in Thailand. Although its natural habitat is not aquatic, but rather shaded locations on soil, silicate rocks, and limestone, according to "Bryophyte Flora of North America". The population from Khao Sok resembles Taxiphyllum barbieri. This moss has a moderate ramification rate for its shoots, grows relatively fast, appears undemanding, and attaches quickly to driftwood and rocks using its rhizoids.
