Description
Vesicularia ferrei, also known as "Weeping Moss", was identified by Prof. B.C. Tan from Singapore and is native to China and southern Japan. In its natural habitat, it grows on wet rocks with sandy soil, riverbanks, and rivulets. The submersed form can be distinguished by its overhanging frond-shaped shoots that resemble a weeping willow. Its leaves and leaf cells are similar to those of V. montagnei, but the leaves are more acute and obtuse without an acuminate tip. Unlike other Vesicularia species, V. ferrei's shoots have a distinct downward bend. Under low light conditions, its growth habit may be more horizontal. This moss has gained popularity among aquarists due to its beautiful appearance and relatively undemanding requirements for lighting and fertilization.
